Let Us Now Go And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away - TopicsExpress

Let Us Now Go And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made know unto us. Luke 2:15 Throughout the years I have met people who have cynically said to me, “If God was really concerned about me, He would come down and help me.” When I hear this statement, and I’ve heard it plenty of times, my response is always the same: “My friend, God is concerned about you, He does love you, and He’s already done something about it. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins and offer you a way to heaven.” Of course, this answer always irritates. That’s not what people want to hear. But I find the truth of it in the Christmas story. The angels appeared to the shepherds with an announcement that would change the destiny of mankind. They said, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11). This signified that God had done something for mankind. He saw man’s desperation, and sent His Son. Now it was time for man to sense his own desperation and go to Him. Today’s scripture speaks of a decision made by the shepherds that must be made by everyone who chooses to see the Christ Child. They said, “Let us now go even unto Bethlehem....” They realized that Jesus was not going to come to them; they must go to Him. This is our lesson for Christmas Day. For those who are waiting for God to come, they need not wait any longer. He came 2,000 years ago. Now, like the shepherds, we must individually go to Him. 2 Chronicles 30; Revelation 16; Zechariah 12-13:1; John 15 Steve Hill Ministries
