Let it all out : Last year, as a regular at Tenterden Leisure - TopicsExpress

Let it all out : Last year, as a regular at Tenterden Leisure Centre putting my body through Body Combat, Body Pump and swimming 2 miles a week. This lead to an injury, I tore a tendon in my right shoulder, I lived with it for a while until the pain got too much and in January this year I had surgery to my right shoulder, which meant no driving for 6 weeks with 3 kids at different schools it was difficult but I did have help from my wonderful friends. During the op the consultant repaired a small tear in the tendon and removed a spur of bone that was tearing away at the tendon. Two weeks after the operation, I was suffering terrible neck pain and pain all the way down my arm to my wrist. I saw the consultant who put me on Amtripelyine, a nerve painkiller, This helped with the nerve pain and when I went back to the consultant he signed me off. When I went to Majorca in August I forgot my painkillers so I decided it was a good time to come off them. Oh boy !!! It was then I realised how much pain the Amtripteline was covering up. So I went back to my GP two weeks ago who arranged MRI scans, which showed to my absolute shock two herniated discs in my neck and a near full thickness tear in the tendon which was repaired, impingement in the shoulder joint, tendonitis and a problem with a joint in my clavicle. All this leads me to have weakness and pain in my right shoulder, which makes me feel slightly disabled and shooting pain in my wrist. I cant believe the consultant signed me off when obviously Im so much worse than before my op. An orthopaedic friend of mine has said I should be very wary of having another op. Pain makes you feel miserable and bad tempered and Im worried about a future 40 odd years of this. It seems to me these shoulder, hip and knee operations often make things worse. So if Im a grumpy miserable old so and so youll know why. Has anyone else experienced anything like this??
