Let me hear one more person say that words do NOT affect a person because they can easily be forgotten after you forgive that person!! ALL words affect a persons emotions. Negative AND positive. But some fail to realize how much the negative comments or words turns into verbal abuse. Verbal abuse doesnt leave physical bruises, but it can cause deep and lasting mental scars. It is the put-downs, name calling, insults, belittling and critical statements that have the most serious and long-lasting effect on self-esteem as these messages keep repeating in the victims mind, years after the bruises have healed. Ultimately, it is the victims self image and self-esteem that suffers. REMEMBER YOU are not the problem, but ABUSE can cause you to suffer physical, mental and emotional problems. The effects of emotional abuse are often silent. If you find yourself in the wrong story, leave!! Trust me when I say that you will love yourself more than you ever thought possible. You learn to trust again...you learn to LOVE again!! And that courage and brave heart you thought you lost??? You will soon find that you possessed both, you just had to walk that tightrope to grab it. The rewards of your actions will positively affect you the rest of your life because NO one deserves to be talked down to. People will only treat you the way you allow them to treat you. The deepest scars are the longest to heal. Dont hurt because someone else has to put you down to feel good about themselves and their actions. Leave.
