Let me preface, this is not a political statement. I open the news, three selections from headlines: -Charlie Hebdo shooting: eleven dead at Paris offices of satirical magazine -Dozens dead and injured after bomb explodes at Yemen police college -One dead after gunman opens fire at military hospital in El Paso I realize that this can be attributed to rhetoric, mental illness, sheer lust for adventure, etc. - but where is the plan to change how violence is taught, grows and adapts (in our culture, let alone others)? Are we really still this savage now that humanity could probably feed, clothe and shelter all of the needy? And really, who out there cares? Malala Yousafzai? Thats morbidly insufficient. We should all care, because this universal pandemic IS threatening our survival in the most base way. Perhaps more importantly, its stifling any real gain in understanding each other, and without that how can we even progress beyond [things]. We fool ourselves with inanimate progresses in technology, but we as humans are not as a whole enlightened, and are doing little to facilitate it for one another.
