. Let me put Institutes centralised placement drive in perspective. This is based on the data I obtained from the Institute under the RTI. It refers to placements for Batch Jun 10 to Jun 13. 1. It commenced only with Jun 10 Batch. Typically, about 100 students get placed from each Batch. The Maximum placements reported in any batch so far were of Dec 12 (167). 2. For placement enrollment the Institute entertains Students ONLY from the current batch. So, that means each pass-out gets ONLY ONE CHANCE at enrollment. 3. Reported Strike-rate of Placement averages just about 10.9% (over the period mentioned). Institute has NO DATA or NO IDEA as to whether the balance 89% were eventually employed. 4. None of these 89% students (who failed to get placed while in their Batch) have any further chance to seek even an enrollment for the next Batch. So, thats the end-of-the road with Institutes placement support. 5. Therefore guys, if you were indeed looking forward to Institutes Campus Placement... then make sure that you put your best foot forward. Look at the odds.... and over-prepare. 6. If you guys were interested, we could repeat some posts on how to prepare and what the Corporates were looking for. Lets know. Last year CMA Kaustubh had initiated a blog on Tech-Shrishty, but there were hardly any participants. Nonetheless, I believe Kaustubh was benefited personally from the blog... and could secure placement with ITC. So, my posts will only be aired.... if there was an interested crowd. 7. Till Dec 11 batch, the majority of the placements were in the PSUs (essentially Coal India @56% of total). In the later batches, Wipro seems to have taken the lead. Other PSUs reported are EIL, ONGC, GAIL, MMTC, NHB, IREDA, NCL, PGC, SEBI, IDBI, Allahabad Bank, Exim Bank, etc. 8. Besides the PSUs, there are assorted Corporates like Nestle, ITC, SKF, TVS, Vedanta, Jindal, Genpact, TCS, HCL Tech, Accenture, KPMG, HUL.... but they seem to be hiring in smaller numbers. 9. The latest Packages offered.... seem to be ranging from 4Lpa to 10Lpa. Obviously, the MNC have deeper pockets, but they would be looking for polished, smart, savvy and well-read candidates... rather than any Rank-holders. PSUs, as you may know, will have different selection criteria. 10. I have already sought information for last-2-3 batches (again, under the RTI), and hope to receive it before the interviews commence in Oct-Nov. So, more later!! The BIG and LOUD message is.... that, guys, dont think its easy. Take it seriously and start preparing!! Strike rate is just 10%..... so, the competition is yet not over! Best wishes!
