Let me put this in context . I had to delete an entire thread cause people were fighting and calling names . Nobody was banned but I warned them they needed to keep it courteous or the post would come down and it did . People fight over identities and it can be among any faction it seems . No group is immune , but we can try to act like we want dialogue , not bickering . One thing I certainly have learned long before this group is it is usually a poor choice to define others peoples situations to them . Sometimes there is no choice . I worked at an HIV agency where all the support group leaders were negative and people wondered about that . Should negative people be trying to tell POZ people how to manage ? I have no idea what it is like to be without sight or hearing and it would wrong for me to define that to someone in that condition A recurring online issue is the Vancouver Rape Relief program . A volunteer who was not female wanted a position counseling rape survivors . They were turned down for the job . There are various ways to handle a job rejection. One can just try something else in a different area or one can get upset and sue the employer basically wasting their money and pretty making sure you wont work in any related field . Another way is to get out and get a job counseling a demographic where this issue doesnt exist like HIV services or employment counseling . If you are really good at it and you want to help women, some of those same shelter residents may come to your job for help in these areas. If you are not female and have not been raped , should you be defining this to those who were ? My point is when people tell others how to experience a condition they have not , there is a credibility gap . I dont think people should act like the job seeker in the VRR situation and create unnecessary drama about stuff they know must know very little .Maybe I got too much off of the track, but its all degrees of kinda the same thing . I would never try to tell someone pregnant I know how they feel cause I dont know . The GOP tells women how they feel. No place for this here .. Peace
