Let me see if Ive got this right....N.S.W. police bust a group in Sydney for organising groups of people to go over to Syria to fight.We are told that this is illegal,and very naughty.Why then has it been LEGAL for Australians to be recruited,trained,and paid to do the very same thing thing for the last 10 years in Iraq,and Afghanistan ?? Heres the rub.Under the Mercenary and Foreign Incursion Act of Australia,it is illegal for someone to sign up as a mercenary (i.e. contract killer) and fight on behalf of a foreign military,or corporation.This a serious offence,and you go to jail for it .However , if you sign up as a security contractor this annoying legislation evaporates,allowing you you to work for private military companies .These companies do not swear an oath of loyalty to their country,and because they are not part of any government,dont follow the Geneva Conventions of War.This means they can do what ever they like,where they like,when they like it .They kill,with impunity,or respect to the laws of the country they operate in,as there are no corporate laws written to deal with this.Ultimately,the only people the companies answer to are their shareholders.This is murder for profit,pure and simple,and not a single press outlet has EVER come out and stated it.Why ? Because the press in Australia is controlled mostly by Rupert Murdoch,who is as Right-winged as you can get.
