Let me start by saying how proud I am of the entire cast, crew, band, teachers, and parents that helped put on Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. I cannot be more proud of Samantha, who not only made the HS musical as a freshman but had a solo part as well. She has continued to work hard to improve herself as a singer and performer and it definitely has paid off. My mother, who for multiple years has volunteered her free time and has done a phenomenal job of taking on the task of clothing 50+ students. The amount of effort it takes to create these outfits, many of them from scratch, and turn them into a finished product that will be worn on stage is no easy task. Finally my father, who was pretty much given the task of set designer during my senior year of high school after volunteering before. He has continued to put in so much time, day after day to make this musical “come to life”. I am sure both of my parents know how much they are appreciated for all their dedication. Well now that the mushy family stuff is finished I can continue on to the show! As a performer there is nothing harder than to say that my own performances have been out done. But I think this may be one of those times. This year’s show was an overall outstanding piece of art to enjoy. I don’t remember when I smiled for an hour and a half straight because this show had me laughing the entire time. The cast was able to come together with one another, the pit crew and stage crew to create something special. One particular point I want to make was the level of singing that the ensemble collectively accomplished. At certain periods throughout the act I had chills after hearing the whole cast resonate throughout the auditorium. It was gratifying to see the improvement that the students have made in their craft, especially because I have had the opportunity to perform alongside many of them. To all the seniors that will be finishing off a wonderful career here at Starpoint, savor every minute on that stage because it will be the last time all of you will be together as a cast performing. I’m honored to have been part of a program that has continually put on shows that would rival any school in the country. Congratulations to everyone involved in the 2014 performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!!!
