Let me tell yall a little story about some cooperative economics - TopicsExpress

Let me tell yall a little story about some cooperative economics and social media coming through for ya girl: So earlier this week I knocked over my favorite tea mug aka coffee mug. I got it in Silver Spring Maryland last Spring and it was designed, made, and sold by a Black woman. The benefit of sending dollars into the black community only made an awesome mug more awesome which is why it was my favorite. This morning, as I was perusing Tumblr I came across these dope coffee mugs with no tag as to who made them. This reminded me that I really missed my mug and wanted a new one so I began a search, which lasted an hour, through the interwebs to find Black-owned businesses which made mugs. Finally I hit up a jewelry producer on Etsy, who Ive purchased goods from before, and asked her if she knew one. Within a half hour of my request, she had retweeted my request and put me in contact with someone who made mugs. The producer of the mugs showed me her most recent products and was open to fulfilling any custom order I may have. Though she didnt have an online store we were able to arrange a payment and exchange method via Twitter and in the next two weeks Im getting my coffee mug made by a Black person. though it may have taken a little longer to find, I got what I wanted and felt great about my purchase. THE END. The coffee mug producers twitter handle is @themakeda and the jewelry makers name is @fireinfreetown. The jewelry designer also does hilarious personalized cards and if youre ever in the market for Black owned apparel/skin care there are TONS of online vendors! TONS!
