Let me tell you about my day. Work was good til my co-worker pissed me off. But overall it was a great day. Let me elaborate a bit before I get to the point. Every shift has their duties they have to do, which means when the next shift starts, everything is clean, stocked and ready for the next shift to maintain their own workload. Every shift clerk prepares the store for the incoming clerk. ( one clerk per shift). So, during my entire shift I have to run the whole store alone, take care of customers and make sure everything is clean, stocked and ready for the incoming clerk. This I do on a regular basis, ( no one coming in to relieve me ever has complained about the condition of the store). My mom & dad taught me a good work ethic. Actually, I can not even attempt to do anything w/o giving it my best. Well, this co-worker whom I relieve never ever has the store ready. As a matter of fact when I walk in I can see right away that the store is a mess. I have said to her can you take out trash before you go?, can you mop before you go? can you get fresh food for the roller grill before you go?, can you stock the cups before you go?, can you do this or that before you go? This has been ongoing for about 4 months. So today, she was there with me ( but she had different work tasks than I). Anyway before she was leaving ( earlier than I because her job was not clerk today), I said so and so. ( not to use names), do me a favor and take a look at how the store looks. When I leave this is how it is supposed to look for the incoming shift. When I come in to start my shift this is how its supposed to look. Do you think you could try a littl harder to make it presentable for when I come in to relieve you. She said, what are you saying?, are you saying you do better work than me? I said no, thats not what Im saying, its just that I always have to catch you before you leave and get you to do this or that, if not then I have to do it. She went off and started yelling about how the boss says she always does a good job. I said true, when she comes in you do everything youre supposed to but when shes not here ( in which she only comes in once a week) the store is a wreck.When she doesnt come in, nothing is done thats supposed to be done everyday, every shift. She continued to yell some garage and then started to criticize about 1 thing I didnt do. Granted my shift was not gonna be over for another hour so for sure I would get it done. Then she was talking to a customer trying to get her to co-sign and advocate for her. Then when she left she didnt even say, bye girl, have a nice day. ( as she always does) SHE WAS PISSED!! Now was I wrong in my way or was she? She took it as I was sayng I am a better worker than her and shes been there 3 yrs. ( her words) but that is not what I was saying. The conversation wasnt about whos the better worker, it was about do your work because I dont want to or get paid to. But I do need the store clean and set up so I can serve in the manner and by the standard that my boss requires. I need feedback people because I dont wanna be wrong when ( and I will ) talk to the boss. THE ONE WHO CAN AND WILL RESOLVE THE MATTER. Not the anger, thats her anger she can be angry, rude, standoffish or whatever if she chooses. I still have a job to perform to the best of my ability regardless of her attitude.
