Let me tell you what I’ve learned about our daughter, Eden - TopicsExpress

Let me tell you what I’ve learned about our daughter, Eden Kaveri, this week… At three days old, she was found by police officers outside of a railway station. Her umbilical cord was still attached and her feet and hands were mangled and hardly recognizable as human limbs. She was taken to a local hospital where her condition was assessed and it was determined that she needed an orthopedic specialist. After a few days, she was transferred to a hospital in Kolkata where the best possible care could be given. For two months, the first two months of her life, she lived in that hospital. No family. No visitors. Just her, alone, literally fighting for her life. Without a soul in this world to claim her, she was named by the hospital staff. After that two month hospitalization, and by the grace of God, she was ultimately placed in an orphanage in Kolkata whose primary role was to find her a permanent home. Because of strictly limited funding, the orphanage couldn’t provide for the extensive surgeries Eden needed if she would ever have any use of her legs, so an organization in Canada stepped up and has covered every medical bill she has had in the last year. Only because of their provision, she’s had three surgeries to rebuild her legs and now, at 20 months old, she can stand unassisted and with further treatment should be able to walk. So, what have I learned about Eden Kaveri Followell? She has an army of people - all around this great big world - who have shown her love, kindness, and grace. She has literally fought for her life from the moment she came into this world - and won. And now, she’s sitting a few inches from me in a hotel room bed sleeping peacefully. She shed some tears as we pulled away from the only home she’s known, but has found a safe spot cuddling in Jess’ arms and hasn’t shed a tear since we got into our room. As of today, we fight with her, and for her, for the rest of our lives. And what a pleasure it will be. Sweetheart, we’ll never let you go. (video by Nathan Willis of our last few hours as we were bringing her home. Hes shot every second of our last few days and worked up this clip to help us show you guys just how beautifully and completely God is answering your prayers.)
