Let the record show that Tuesday, November 5, 2013 was a great day for Brooklyn, NY. Congratulations to all of the election winners -- particularly the new Mayor, Brooklyns Bill de Blasio, the new Public Advocate, Brooklyns Letitia James, the new President of the Borough of Brooklyn, Eric Adams, and the new District Attorney of Kings County, Kenneth P. Thompson. Also, the James, Adams and Thompson victories constitute a historic day for African Americans throughout New York City. With the election of new City Council members, today was also historic for the LGBT community in our City. You cant help but take a deep breath and savor the changes on our horizon. Now, we have to do the hard work of serving the people well.
