Lets face it. There is tremendous pressure for all of us to surrender truth in order to be politically correct. It is easy to fear being labeled as someone who is intolerant or a bigot. We are tempted to rely on the opinions of people and exchange truth for the approval of others. When we give into this temptation, we have sold truth at a cheap price. In so many areas of life we would be distraught to find that someone failed to tell us the truth. If the mechanic knew that our brakes were about to fail but didnt tell us the truth out of fear that we didnt have the money to pay the bill, we would question whether or not the mechanic really cared for our safety. If the doctor knew we had cancer but failed to tell us out of fear that it would make us emotionally upset, we would no longer trust that doctor. The mechanic and the doctor can tell us the truth with compassion and love and when they do so we appreciate them all the more. When we fail to speak the truth we risk losing the trust of others. At what cost are we willing to compromise the truth? Lets help one another be courageous. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is proceeding in the face of fear. Face the fear and embrace truth even if it means you need to speak it today.
