Lets look at some basic terms we use referring to computer: BIOS: Basic Input/output system which is a collection of software codes built into a PC that handles some basic tasks of sending data from one part of the computer to another. CPU- Central Processing Unit: its a microchip that processes information and the code (instructions or commands) used by a computer. This is the brain of a computer. Operating System(OS): Software that exists in a computer to control the operations of hardware such as writing data to memory/disk. OS also regulates the use of hardware among several application programs running at the same time. OS essentially frees the program developers from having to write their own code for these types of basic operations. ROM- Read Only Memory: memory chips or data stored on disks that can be read by the processor. The PC cant write new data to these chips or disk drives. RAM- Random Access Memory: memory or disks that can be both read and written to by the PC. Computer can jump to any location to find the information it needs. System Files: Small disk files that contain software codes that are the first files a computer reads when it is booted(started). System files are very important since it contains the information needed following the initial hardware boot, to load the the rest of an operating system to get PC ready in the game.
