Lets look at the facts. During the 90s, the three primarily dominant female solo acts were Brandy, Monica, and Aaliyah. 1). Brandy had a successful television sitcom, a 4x platinum selling album, and a critically acclaimed starring role as the first black Cinderella. 2). Monica had a platinum selling debut album, an internationally succesful Hot 100 #1, and a Grammy. 3). Aaliyahs had one platinum album, and one multiplatinum. Her last album had only sold about 500,000 copies (before death), although shed book numerous movie roles. Not to discredit her legacy, talent, or anything shes ever done, but how would Aaliyah pose a threat to Beyonce` when she barely stomped out the competition in her own era?
