Lets proceed into observing the forthcoming 3rd sign called The Healing of an Impotent Man on a Sabbath. As the chapter opens we find Christ coming from Galilee going up into Jerusalem to attend the feast, being obedient to Gods laws and ordinances and setting Himself as an example for us all. In Jerusalem there was a pool they called Bethesda which had a miraculous healing power in it. There upon are found laying a lot of invalid people of blind, lame, and decaying all waiting for the water to be stirred by an angel who occasionally comes once a year; and whoever will be the first to step into the water will be made well of whatever disease he has. There was this man laying there who for thirty eight years had been suffering his disease which seems so grievous. There were several others there who were grievous like him, but it was on him whom Jesus fastened His sight. So when the Lord saw him laying there and knew that he had been suffering this disease for that lenght of time said to him, Wilt thou be made whole? Having been suffering of this serious disease for a very, very long time seems quite strange to be ask this question, yet the Lord knew those who are in dire need of it. The question run similar as to asking, Do you want to be saved? There are people that for strange reason refused to be healed. For some it might be a means of livelihood in this world, yet for some a total depence from others, like this mans reasoning. In spiritual cases there are people who are not willing to be cured of their sins, and are reluctant to part with them. The Lord is more than willing to heal us if we but willing to be healed. In the case of a man with leprosy who approached the Lord and worshipped Him pleading Him that He would heal him. Matthew 8:3, And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. If only we will ask the Lord Jesus to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from our unrighteousness, He would be more willing to do that. 1John 1:9 says, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
