Lets see if Dave Davies remembers this night at a very early 70s NYC KinKs show at the Felt Forum either 1971 or 72 - but here is the story and I even have a picture my friend took while al the Chaos was going on and I was up on the stage - shortly after; Ok here goes a NYC Felt Forum show EARLY 70S, the show from the get go was a pretty wild and rowdy show and it just kept on getting worse and worse or better and better depending on how you look at it ...in my case better, but during the encore when Dave stepped out to do Youre Looking Fine and Good Golly Miss Molly he grabbed the hat of a NYC cop in the audience who was there as part of the security, Dave put the hat on & the cop was not amused. So to add fuel to the fire Dave instead of giving the cop his hat back tossed it out in to the crowd, needless to say things heated up and a group of the Felt Forum guards gathered on the side of the stage and surrounded Dave, and were giving him menacing looks and shouting things at him that did not appear to be too friendly ..Kenny Jones the kinks road manager tried to intervene but it was him against a crowd of cops and security people so I gathered up a posse of fans and friends I knew and we jumped on the stage and a full fledge melee broke out, fist-a-cuffs were flying it was a rock and roll spectacular in all its glory. After a few bruises and black eyes the ( which I had one of ) cop did enventually get his hat back Dave & did not get arrested and the show kept right on rocking, the scene at the front of the stage was chaotic but it was GREAT. There was nothing like a NYC Kinks show and there never will be they were the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!
