Lets talk about legs and Leg Day... Ive said in the past that coming in and doing 5 sets of squats OR 5 sets of leg press IS NOT A LEG DAY... Lets talk about one important reason why. The knee cap is called a floating bone but in fact it floats in tendon tissue attached from both sides of the quad area. The bottom of the knee cap has a long V shaped ridge that runs along from top to bottom and this ridge rides along in a valley. IF you dont keep your legs balanced by working them out correctly a very common issue becomes deep aching pain inside the knee. This pain is cause by the knee cap being pulled too far to one side, usually the outside, and basically rubbing along the walls of that valley. The most common cure for this injury is to train the VMO (Vastus Medialis Oblique) or teardrop muscle on the inside of the leg with leg extension exercises to re-balance the knee and knee cap. To avoid this injury... We work ALL of the muscles of the leg. If you need help with a leg workout then I highly recommend you hire a professional like myself to run you through a leg day and explain what you do and why you are doing it...
