Lets talk above this weekend before I enjoy the New Years Eve - TopicsExpress

Lets talk above this weekend before I enjoy the New Years Eve festivities. Looks like well have some wintry weather to contend with. After all it is winter! Unlike last time with multiple low pressure systems and models that couldnt agree on anything; this time its looking much more clear. The only caveat is temperatures. Will we be too warm for accumulating snow on Saturday? Tough call. Areas along the Wisconsin border into NW IL should see temperatures remaining below the freezing mark, however the greatest concentration of precipitation may fall southeast of this area. Where the most QPF is progged is where temperatures get dicey. A cocktail of snow/sleet/freezing rain/rain is looking more likely. Right now Id day the best chance of all snow resides from Waukegan to Peoria and northwest, with freezing rain/sleet/snow across the I 55 corridor, and rain southeast of I 57. Saturday night all the precipitation looks to turn to all snow for a period of time but I wont comment on amounts as they are likely to change. Another weak system follows this one early next week which may bring the threat for more snow. Right now I think we are able to see advisory level wintry precipitation on Saturday whether it is 2-4 of snow, .2 to .3 of icing/glaze or a combination of both. Certainly more details later. Dont get caught up with specifics, just realize that Rockford has a better chance of snow than Kankakee at this point. One last note, be responsible tonight! Drinking and driving is a problem 365 days out of the year, but tonight is a big night that accidents and deaths occur. Please make the smart choices and turn in your keys before you turn in your life for wearing orange or a pine box. Anyone that plans to be out should be extra aware of your surroundings. Have fun and 2014 was a great and exciting year with all of you! Remember, tomorrow is the big release to all of you that reside in the state of Illinois!
