Lets talk local for a minute shall we. If you read yesterday - TopicsExpress

Lets talk local for a minute shall we. If you read yesterday and wondered where the multiple things I was thinking about postig went... Well the power cut off like three times for some reason and that screwed up a lot of what I was doing today, but sets up this point that I was going to try and work in. While it is a local issue I think its one that streches to every city and state, so there should be plenty of room for your thoughts and ideas. Taxes get paid in each part of the city, and yet it doesnt seem to come back to everyone. Weve got some roads that if you go down at speed could probably total your car, meanwhile theyll pave the same one in decent condition on the other side of town three times before they even look at that one. Same goes for schools. We had one school that was close to being condemned, may have been by the end actually. Parents screaing for years to get it fixed or get a new school, and nothing. Meanwhile they build like three out west in the Hardin Valley area, which is generally the higher wealth part of town, and at the same time pull good teachers from other schools to send out their way. Now, Im no socialist, Im not for redistribution of wealth, but I would think city and state taxes would be spread evenly enough if everything was working right. Luckily we got a pretty good County Mayor in Mr. Burchett and they finally got that much needed school, but its ridiculous that it had to come to that in my opinion. Theres also the outright stupidity. Theyll pave a road and tear it up a week later either because they scheduled stuff idiotically, or because they crush a water line under the pavement with the big steamroller because theyre all smart and junk... Also if our old Governor Phil Bredesen blew a huge state surplus on a literal party bunker for the Governors mantion or whatever because people had to stand outside during parties... By the way, they still do, it has to be one of the biggest wastes Ive seen. People still talk about how he was a good Governor and great with fisical issues. I think people are insane. Anyway, seems like schools wouldnt have to question whether they can even affort to open as happened a few years if the state still had that big surplus they could have helped them with, but blowing it all right as we slide into a financial crisis is good too. So like I said, its local, but Im sure no matter where you live you can bring similar issues to the table, and feel free to rant away in the comments. Id say if they just distributed the money we pay in correctly, dont blow it on total idiotic things, and dont waste it by tearing up crap you just fixed. Itd be a little better... maybe... hopefully. Theres always going to be morons in Government at every level, but doing some simple things may ease their impact. Also they could probably move to underground power lines here. They put those in in a few places on the more western side of town, and with all of the storms and power outages it seems like they would save plenty in the long run, but I dont have all of the numbers right in front of me. I dont run the place ...yet. (wink wink) So dont be afraid to share your local problems, your solutions, and I mean that here and with youre Mayors and State reps. Theyre easier to go yell at and all than Obama. Theres definitely more news to get to, but with tomorrow being September 10th Ive got some thing Id like to do still over the next day or two. Time, and power permitting we might be able to get up a few posts over the next two days, but for now thank you all for reading. Again feel free to share your little local outrages, and of course like and share. Im thinking we could probably have some better and more timely effect locally than nationally. Its got to start somewhere right? Stay tuned though, well have more later so stay aware out there until then, and have a good night.
