Letter from the Chair September 20, 2013 Dear ACMP Member, We - TopicsExpress

Letter from the Chair September 20, 2013 Dear ACMP Member, We hope you had an enjoyable and music-filled summer. We have had a busy and productive time at ACMP. Aside from our individual activities as workshop participants and organizers, ensemble players and conference attendees, the ACMP Board has been actively pursuing a number of initiatives to better serve you. I am pleased to share with you some highlights of our work, as well as some modifications to our membership structure. The results of the 2013 ACMP Member Survey are in. We are absolutely thrilled and grateful for such a strong response, and send our thanks to all of you who took the time to share your thoughts and opinions with us. We have been poring over the data and are already using your input to guide our plans for ACMP’s future. We will have a full report about the survey in the next issue of our Newsletter, but want to give you a preview of what you, our membership, want from ACMP: You want more/clearer ACMP resources for sheet music, including difficulty ratings for works and more options for less skilled players. You want more opportunities to meet, play, and share information with other ACMP members in your local area. You want our new website to have expanded member profiles, articles written by chamber music professionals, and information about new technologies. The ACMP Board is analyzing this valuable feedback and exploring ways we can better provide benefits to you through refinements to our existing programs and new initiatives. We sincerely appreciate the many kind words, thanks, and support you expressed in your responses; it gives us extra encouragement as we continue to work on behalf of ACMP. The Board has recently approved some changes to our membership structure. We are keeping the suggested $25 annual membership contribution, but have eliminated our free, e-list option. In order to keep membership affordable for all, a sliding scale is available for students and those of limited means for as little as $5. We are fortunate to have the ACMP Foundation, which enables us to defray some of the costs of providing ACMP benefits that far exceed membership dues. We have also made some changes to our communications policy. The majority of our members prefer electronic materials, but we will continue to produce paper versions of the ACMP Directory, Workshop Guide, and Newsletters. Those wishing to receive paper materials will now be charged a $5 fee to help cover increased printing and postage costs. We are confident these changes will both serve the needs of our current membership and help us to attract new members. To help with our growing and changing needs, ACMP recently hired a part-time staff member, cellist Robin Boomer, as our new Director of Marketing, Communications, and Outreach. Robin is a passionate chamber music enthusiast and experienced arts administrator who is working with ACMP to expand our membership and visibility world-wide. You can reach Robin directly at [email protected]. Please help spread the word about ACMP to new musicians you meet. By doing so you help us in our mission: to stimulate and expand the playing of chamber music for pleasure. Thanks for your continued participation and support. Sincerely, Janet White ACMP Chair The Chamber Music Network 1133 Broadway - Room 810 New York, NY 10010 (USA) Tel: +1 212 645 7424
