Letting my kids suffer the consequences of their actions is - TopicsExpress

Letting my kids suffer the consequences of their actions is something Ive just had to learn to do through the years. Ive gotten pretty good at it and found it to be a very effective lesson-teacher at times, but today will not be easy because the consequences will likely be very severe compared to the momentary lapse in judgement. Worried that consequences too severe will discourage my kid from continuing the very hard work hes been doing to overcome some challenges in his life. Kyle and I have specifically discussed with the boys how one thirty second stupid choice can completely screw up life. Weve actually discussed peer-pressure and being a bold leader when others are screwing up. Weve discussed every aspect of our morals and values with our kiddos. Apparently one of them forgot most of it for a minute and with the worst possible timing. Not getting into details out of respect for his privacy but prayers would be helpful. Praying myself for wisdom, guidance, strength, and the ability to shut my mouth today because my protective maternal instincts are fighting pretty hard against that quiet little voice telling me to stand back and let life teach the lesson. God I need your help today in a big way! Ugh!!!
