Let’s leave the time of the Kingdom of Ryukyu! “Ryukyu” is the old name of Okinawa and the biggest autumn festival in Okinawa Prefecture, “Shurijo Castle Festival,” is held from October 31st to November 3rd. In this festival, you can experience culture of the Kingdom of Ryukyu which had existed from the 15th to the 19th century. On November 2nd, the huge parade of 700 people in ancient costumes will be held. The parade replays the Kingdom of the old time and each day during the festival, traditional “Ryukyu Dance” by women is shown. The dance called “Ryukyu Buyo” expresses women’s emotions and feelings towards the cherished one.
