Levi had an MRI this morning. Due to the overdose of sedation, he didnt require additional sedation. Although we were glad he didnt have to go through having the tube put down his throat, we are upset that the reasoning was because of the overdose. Daniel and I sat in the MRI room with him and were astonished that Levi didnt even flinch with all of the noise from the machine. This is something we are extremely upset about. We have to stay one more night because the side effects of the overdose peaks around 24 hours. They will check his blood levels again to determine if he is safe to go home. The MRI showed that his brain size was much smaller than it should be for his age and he had more fluid area than normal. We arent quite sure what this means. The neurologist didnt do a good job of explaining herself, I will ask someone to translate what she said. Ok...so I had to stop writing for a moment because his nurse walked in. I asked her about the MRI. She said she believes it is typical for LGS (Lennox Gastaut Syndrome) and the fluid builds around the brain to protect it. This may be why he has seizures. I told her that although that is true and may be the cause of his seizures, I still BELIEVE and have FAITH Levi can beat this. I didnt know her religious preference, but I asked her if she has ever seen miracles happen here. I wasnt sure how she would respond, I just blurted it out. She became very excited and said she had witnessed it in Africa. She traveled to Africa to help sick people last year. She witness patients with horrible staph infections and west nile virus become completely healed through the power of prayer. I couldnt believe we were having this conversation. Most nurses and doctors are just so matter of fact and shy away from any religious conversations. I dont think I was strong enough in my faith at this time last year to have asked this of someone. She mentioned that some Christians may be afraid to pray for miracles in fear that they would be let down, but this is not the fear she had, nor do I. In the back of my head, I wanted to ask her to pray for Levi tonight. I held back because you arent supposed to talk religion with your patients. She then got a page and started to walk out of the door. She turned back to Levis crib and asked if she could pray for him. I COULDNT BELIEVE IT!! She shut the room door and we both placed our hands on Levi. She prayed for healing and for Levi to one day, be able to sit up and look at us and smile. She prayed for our family to be led in the journey that is meant for us and to show us his reasons. She prayed that Jesus be in our room to look over us and perform a miracle, so that we can share the story of our MIRACLE to everyone. The prayer led me to tears of joy and hope!! Can everyone please pray for the same thing?? This journey is not over for us and we will prosper!!!!
