Liaoning students forced to eat standing up You might think that a table and chairs would be the bare minimum for eating, but there are only tables at a middle school in Faku County in ＃Liaoning Province in northern China. At the school, students are made to stand while having their food, according to a report by China Daily. An Internet user recently posted a photo of students standing while eating with a caption that said, Weird School!” Local ＃authorities from ＃Faku ＃County defended the ＃unorthodox arrangement by stressing that the volume of students moving in and out of the dining room put enormous pressure on resources. Going “chairless,” officials asserted, allowed more tables to be used in the dining hall and also gave extra incentive for students to leave after they had finished eating. Netizens on Sina Weibo, however, were generally inclined to agree and were largely unmoved by the story.
