Liberia Movie Union Ready For International Competition In Ivory Coast In the wake of efforts to make Liberia entertainment industry vibrant, the Liberia Movie Union is expected to participate in an international film festival in Ivory Coast. The competition is entitle “Clap Iviore” and anticipated to bring together several filmmakers in the sub region. Addressing a brief press conference at the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs & Tourism on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, Filmmaker A-Sieh Thomas said two astute and talented members of the Liberia Movie Union are to participate in the competition. According to him, the union Vice president, Actress Kadiatu Kaba Kamara and Actress Selassie Mends-cole will show case their respective talents at the entertainment festivity in Ivory Coast. He stated that the two distinct members of the union will show case their documentary and fiction films at the occasion. The Liberia Movie Union National president said Actress Kadiatu Kamara and Actress Mends-cole triumph as both winners in documentary and fiction films recently. He said the union has been decentralized in the 15 counties with five offices established. The youthful filmmaker named Nimba, Grand Bassa, Grand Gedeh, Margibi, and Bomi Counties. He said budgetary increment annually will enable the Movie industry be on par with other unions in the sub region. Actor Thomas disclosed that several movie pieces of equipment were recently donated to several counties legislators at the Capitol Building recently. He lauded the Ministry of Information for it continuous support to the union. For his part, Ivory Coast Director for Infrastructure & Equipment, Kouassi Yao Y. Jean Baptiste, hailed the cordial relationship between the two unions. According to him, filmmaking plays a critical role for job creation and empowerment. He lauded the Liberia Movie Union to participate in the upcoming festival. The Ivorian head at the Ministry of Culture & Tourism expressed optimism for the two Liberian actresses’ success at the competition.
