Life changes and traditions happen. Divorce is hard. Marrying again was not anything I ever wanted or planned yet it came instantly. With it came challenges, hurdles and growing pains. The biggest struggle for me has been traditions.... How to blend and honor two sets of childrens traditions or simply create our own. We stumbled a bit in the beginning and we are still working through many of lifes details. Today I realized Thanksgiving might possibly be a new favorite for me. Since the moment our families merged I decided to give up my claim to the traditional turkey day and knew better than to interfere with black Friday! Thanksgiving Saturday became our thing....allowing all of the kids to maintain their family traditions. We now have a fresh cut tree waiting for them and somewhere between their favorite pre dinner snacks and the ridiculous amount of food that is served a tree is decorated. They are all under one roof together laughing, joking and even arguing! To any of you struggling with that ugly transition phase, dont lose hope!!!! Maybe all you need is to make new traditions. Ive never been more thankful :)
