Life is a learning process. Today i had the opportunity to visit the NASA Space Centre in Houston to view first hand the past, present & future of space exploration. The centre is a compex that houses NASAs training, research & flight control facilities , including the actual behind the scenes tour of the building housing the construction of the rocket & space roving vehicles. I was particularly awed by the International Space Station control room, and the Apollo Fight Control room that has been preserved as it was. The international space station orbits at nearly 400 kms above the earth, at a speed of 27,500kms per hour, and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky! It is a major scientific & technological research lab endeavour by 16 countries. I also had a close look at the massive Saturn V rocket that flew Apollo astronauts to the moon in the 60s, and the space modular vehicles designed for the Mars programme. Its an awesome world of science that inspires one to remember God who created this beauty and gave man the wisdom to pursue the dream to unravel it! I visited the center in the company of my friends Abdinasir M Ali, a senior executive at the oil giant BP, and Hussein K Dido, a senior consultant with Anderson Cancer Centre, University of Texas. Some pics from the visit...
