Life it to short for surprises. But today I had a surprise visitor to our Cultural Center. He was one of our tribal member who is a high ranking officer of the United States Army. He over sees and order all our Army in the East Pacific. Yet as powerful as he is in the military, he was a very humble man who has not forgotten his root and who he was born to be, Lipan Apache. He has done five tours to Afghanistan. He was an awesome man who kept complimenting us for the little we do for the tribe. He was honored to see our totally incomplete center and our buffalo. Then I went to pick up seven boxes of books donated by a recent widower. He lost his wife suddenly three weeks ago. She was one of our tribal members who was collecting Native Books for our recourse area of our cultural center. She is no longer with us but as I lifted each box of books, I could sense the spirit of my good friend who wanted nothing in life but to see our tribe succeed. God bless and enjoy your Day.
