Lifeline Dog Rescue - Breaking news. Pollo Update: Good afternoon Ladies and Gents, Im sorry for taking so long to post an update on this girl, but have only just got back from the Hospital after a very long morning with the Vet and local news stations wanting to cover her heartbreaking story. Let me just say an enormous thank you to everyone who has shown so much kindness and concern for Pollo, it means so much and every Dollar will change her life in so many ways. Thank you. Xxxxx So...., what have we learnt this morning? Little Pollo is stable and comfortable, still on a high dosage of pain meds. I have discussed at length her x rays and the approach to treating her with her Vet, Dr. Nations (a fellow Weim owner!) The X-rays show a break to the left side of her lower jaw, the break includes a Molar tooth broken clean in half. I believe they will be attempting to reset the jaw either this afternoon or tomorrow morning, dependent on her condition. They will also take a closer look at the eye socket. Her vision, though a little blurry under meds, seems to be ok. The hip or pelvis blade is also broken and will need to be plated and pinned. the broken tail should also be addressed at this time. No internal injury is suspected at this time. She is taking a little id food by hand. All in all, Dr. Nations is hopeful of a full recovery, barring any surprises. I would just like to add a little more on the background story. The Polk County Sheriffs Dept was notified when Pollo was taken in, a normal course of action when abuse is possible. The facts so far, just to clarify, the Owner took Pollo to the Clinic after she was found trying to return to her yard, the owner stated that he had seen the neighbor in his yard holding a baseball bat. The owner was known to the clinic having been before with another dog, suspected of being poisoned, again possibly by the neighbor. Although no proof of the attack is currently available, the Sheriffs dept is investigating. Now with several news channels following the story, we hope this investigation will pick up pace and find a satisfactory conclusion. In the name of fairness, Dr. Nations did say that her injuries could be caused by being hit with a vehicle, however with such clean breaks, lack of road rash, broken limbs etc, it could also quite easily be consistent with being struck with a baseball bat as suspected. Obviously whilst taking with the media all parties must remain diplomatic until such facts are confirmed. In our hearts we all know the answer. Anybody still wishing to donate to her recovery you can visit the website at lifelinedogrescue.org/donate or the clinics is more than happy to take a donation directly. VHA, 863-324-3340. Hopefully the news stations will be running the story tonight, I believe around 5/5.30pm and appear on their websites. So far the stations covering are ABC Action News, WFLA, Bay News 9/The Ledger. Please keep Pollo in your prayers, and thank you all again for your support.
