Lightning strikes Lightnin Salvage last night. I was standing - TopicsExpress

Lightning strikes Lightnin Salvage last night. I was standing behind the bar pouring a beer, the band was playing their hearts out, when CRACK! The flash and BOOM were silmoultaneous. It was like a gunshot. The place was packed and everyone was stunned into a short silence. While most of my late night tinkering is in the service of trying to harness and salvage the lightning, my efforts yeilded the opposite and the surge traveled along our cat5 lines frying printers, switches, atms, and wifi. We all grabbed good ol paper and pen, and began hand writing orders and using calculators to figure the price. Here it was the Friday night before the Gator football opener. Suffice it to say the stormy weather didnt seem to keep anyone away. We were able to get Peter West from Staunch Systems to make an emergency trip over to assess the damages. He brought his neice who he was supposed to be going to a movie with at that time. We fed her pizza, root beer, and a cookie while she patiently waited. Fortunately for us Peter carries around 24 port ethernet switches in his trunk and with some head scratching we were able to get some of our system up and running for what is sure to be a busy orange and blue Saturday. One ATM is working. 3 of our 7 printers are alive. And the electricity that still charges the property is allowing us to make great crispy pies. Very sorry for the inconvenience some folks had last night when our ATM was down. Great customers and a flexible staff allowed us to salvage this lightnin for real. What else can I say but Go Gators!
