Like many people, I have never found it easy to ask people for - TopicsExpress

Like many people, I have never found it easy to ask people for money. Its probably why I was never all that successful as a salesperson. But, Im going to stick my neck out and ask you for some money - its my one and only “ask” of the year. I will be walking in the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance (WOCA) benefit run and walk later this month on September 20th. For the third year Ive signed up to be a part of the event and I hope that you will consider contributing to this worthy cause, and supporting me. Long term friend and a member of my church, Kathy Thompson, has been battling ovarian cancer now for more than three years. She’s had many up and downs, treatments, set-backs, heartaches, hopes, nutrition programs, radiation and chemotherapy. While her disease will not be cured, she is doing all she can to living her life to the fullest with her husband, Rikki, her family and her friends. The WOCA organization has been very important to Kathy and to the hundreds of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The group was started to provide education, encourage advocacy and generate support to those afflicted. Kathy volunteers to speak with third year medical students to inform them of the seemingly benign symptoms that can turn out to be early onset of ovarian cancer. The presentations have a real impact on these future doctors. How you can help: 1. Sign up to walk or run with us on September 20. You can take part in the 5k run, 2 mile walk, and even your kids can do the Rascal Romp! Go to wisconsinovariancancer.org website and sign up. Be sure to indicate that you’re part of “Team Thompson”. 2. Contribute what you can. You can send me your tax deductible check, made out to WOCA, to 1202 East Kenmore Place Shorewood, WI 53211. Or, maybe even easier, click here: donatetowoca.org/projects/team-thompson/ to go directly to the Pledge Page. After you click on “Pay with Paypal” you will have the option of paying with a debit or credit card. Couldn’t be easier! Kathy has been truly touched by the outpouring of the emotional support she’s received these last few years and is grateful for the generous financial gifts given to WOCA by friends and especially by those she doesn’t even know. Last year Team Thompson contributed the largest amount of money of all the teams. While the goal amount is $1,500 this year I think we can do even better! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for whatever you can do!
