Lilith It was thought to be a rather peculiar name for one so - TopicsExpress

Lilith It was thought to be a rather peculiar name for one so fair and bright, for Lilith could charm the birds from the trees and melt all with her utterly, sweet smile. Unfortunately, truth be told, this angelic face belied a nature as cruel and unforgiving as an arctic winter! A favourite pastime of this malevolent miss was pulling the wings off flies, just as one may pull the petals off a flower. Lilith most enjoyed holding them rather delicately and plucking away to the strains of loves me, loves me not a delightful smile on her face and a rather vicious glint in her eyes. Of course, to end on a not was a most vile insult to this darling child and as Im sure you are well aware, insect wings do tend to come in pairs on all but the most unfortunate and bedraggled specimens. Their general demise was executed between tiny thumb and forefinger with a decisive, but rather drawn out squish! Hence, the remains of which, became the main ingredient in her dear friend Tabithas infamous currant buns. Lilith knew no mercy and Tabitha was to discover this for herself early one morning, shortly after breakfast. You see, there had been an unfortunate incident with a bottle of shampoo, some cochineal dye and very high spirits, which turned the locks of our cloud-haired maker of malice, fire engine red! None too pleased, was Lilith and so deposited into Tabithas right boot, a deadly black widow spider, to put pay to Tabithas high jinks once and for all! Not long after Tabithas demise, Lilith was back to leaving old ladies in the middle of busy roads and leading blind dogs astray, though at times she did wish she could brag of her wickedness to her dearly departed friend. No matter. And so it was, that Liliths birthday came around and once again her thoughts turned to Tabitha though not through any sense of remorse, you understand. No, it was more a ponderence of perhaps having cut off her nose to spite her face. Tabitha, after all, had always made the most delicious birthday toffees. Currant free. In the midst of her ponder, Lilith was rudely interrupted by a loud knock at the door. Though not best pleased at the interruption, imagine her surprise when she saw a familiarly wrapped box, all tied up in a glorious pink ribbon awaiting her, rather impudently, on her step. Lilith looked down the lane and from left to right but could see no sign of anyone at all. Curious, Lilith took the parcel inside the house and set it down on her table. She carefully untied the ribbon and eased off the lid, there, right before her widening eyes, were twelve of Tabithas most marvellous, rose-caramel toffees. They were so plump and shiny that Liliths mouth watered. When the Governessa found her, Lilith was somewhat blue of lip on account of the large, shiny toffee blocking her airway. The Governessa smiled, Tabitha did say she couldnt bear to leave her dear Lilith behind…
