Lingering Showers and Pleasant Temperatures on Saturday; Hot Again - TopicsExpress

Lingering Showers and Pleasant Temperatures on Saturday; Hot Again Next Week Saturday will be a slightly unsettled but drier day, as the upper low responsible for the recent inclement weather weakens over our area. A lingering chance of showers will persist in northern and eastern parts of Washington, as the state enjoys pleasant early August temperatures. However, significant warming will occur during the weekend, as hot and mainly sunny weather looks to return for Sunday into next week. The only exceptions will be the familiar night/morning low clouds in some western areas, as well as a slight chance of thunderstorms over the mountains. High temperatures this weekend will be in the mid 70s to mid 80s in the west, except mid 60s to low 70s at the coast, with lows in the upper 40s to 50s. In central areas, highs will be in the 80s to mid 90s, with low temperatures in the 50s to mid 60s. In the east, highs will be in the mid 70s to 80s, with lows in the mid 40s to 50s. The main issues next week involve the extent of potential convection over the mountains, as well as temperatures in western areas. At present, it appears that some clouds are likely at times over the mountains next week, but widespread thunderstorms are unlikely. In western areas, weak onshore gradients are expected to keep the coast fairly cool, although interior western areas should be rather warm due to the lack of a strong marine influence. Otherwise, eastern areas around Pullman and Spokane should experience highs in the mid 80s to mid 90s next week, with lows in the 50s. Central areas will climb into the 90s to around 100 during the day, with low temperatures in the upper 50s to 60s. Interior western areas will see highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s, and lows in the upper 40s to 50s.
