Lionel Messi became the highest goal-scorer for a Spanish club as he recorded his 336th and 337th goals for Barcelona in their 6-0 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano at the Camp Nou. Barcelona got off to the best imaginable start, as Adriano cut inside from the left before firing a low shot into the opposite corner to put his side 1-0 up in the second minute of the game. The Catalan giants almost grabbed quick second when Andres Iniesta tried to catch Ruben Martinez off his line from the half-way mark just eight minutes later. Lionel Messi then broke another record as he surpassed Telmo Zarras record as the player with the most goals for a single Spanish team, after producing a delightful chip to beat Ruben in the 36th minute after a lovely through ball from Cesc Fabregas. Barca found their third goal of the game just 10 minutes into the second period as Messi this time picked out a clever run from Alexis Sanchez who found the near post with a confident finish to make it 3-0 in the 54th minute. Gerardo Martino’s men were not done yet and added a quick fourth just two minutes later as Fabregas squared the perfect ball across goal for Pedro to stroke into an empty net from close-range. With the home side four goals up Martino decided to introduce Neymar for the first time in a month after recovering from injury. Messi then added his second for the night as he stroked home a pass from Sanchez to make it 5-0 in the 69th minute. Second-half substitute Neymar after just coming back from injury then wrapped up the result by adding a sixth goal of the game for Martino’s men taking the defending champions back to the top of the La Liga table on gaol difference.
