Lisa Farley Keller and I very much enjoyed watching tonights ESPN 30 for 30 No Mas the story of Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Durans 1980 championship fights. Some of you are aware that Durans trainer for those two fights was my Great Uncle Ray Arcel. As it has been some 20 years since his passing it was great to see some clips of interviews with him as well as many images of him from those two fights. As for figuring our why Duran actually quit in the 8th round, Duran still sticks to his story of getting ill during the fight due to having to lose lots of weight really quickly in order to make weight for the fight. Do I believe him? Still not entirely convinced. As for my Great Uncle he was never convinced of Durans story and never understood why he said no mas during round 8.
