Lisa asks:Hi I am struggling with breastfeeding. My son is nearly 5 weeks old. I am not the most maternal person so breast feeding is a struggle for me but I cant bring myself to give him formula when my body makes the perfect milk for him. He has been gaining weight (born 8lb 2oz and at 3 wks was 8lb 10oz) just recently I thought he wasnt getting enough from me so I gave him 2oz of formula and he was still unsettled so I dont think its my milk but since giving that to him hes really fussy at the breast and wont settle. He always has hiccups after every feed which upsets him and he always brings you up a little after each feed, he is a very windy baby so I am wondering if he is latching on properly? It doesnt hurt me and if my breast is engorged, with him feeding for 7 minutes it feels empty and after winding he is on what I call a breast milk coma I guess I am just not sure whats going on. Also he has stopped opening his bowels several times a day and just goes once a day or every other day, when he does goes it seems like an effort for him and he gets really upset but its the usual yellow korma paste with that sweet smell so I know its ok. Maybe I am just after some reassurance that its ok. I dont know where or if there is a breast feeding support group in my area that I could go to. Thank you for just listening xxxx
