Lisa says: Seeking your wisdom...my ADHD 2nd grade son is the typical ADHDer in that; he is very bright yet his test scores dont show it , he just wants to be done with his work to go play and his school work can be messy and incomplete or he simply doesnt take the time to read directions and just guess because its too hard. He is struggling with reading and is slightly behind in reading (although so is the bulk of his class). But he certainly can read it it just takes more time than he wants. That said he, of course, brings home a lot of correct and return papers. Im starting to get really irritated with my son because he CAN do it if he took the time. Whats the best way to proceed; continue to make him correct at home or ask that we simply quickly go over the work to make sure he understands the concept. A little background his school has fully implemented Common Core and the standards are very high. The administration has so far been very supportive making accommodations for him and working with us and we dont even have an official IEP yet. His parent/teacher conference is Monday. Id appreciate any insight!! TIA
