Listening In Read Ecclesiastes 5:1 through 7:29 The rise of the Internet has made information more readily available than ever before. With social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, we can let the entire world know what we’re doing at any given moment. But as beneficial as these tools can be, they can also contribute to issues such as gossip, pride, and comparing oneself to others. Anyone who uses social media would be wise to heed the words of Solomon. Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you (Ecclesiastes7:21). In an age where the World Wide Web is literally at our fingertips, it would be easy to fall prey to constantly checking how many “likes” our photos get or if we have been “re-tweeted.” But this is unwise because eventually other people and their perception of us will let us down. So try not to worry about what others think. Instead, look to the One who has promised to love us always—God. Challenge for Today: Unplug from social media for a few hours, and spend that time in prayer or studying God’s Word. ;)
