Listening to Tony A Gaskins just made me think...There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a proverbs 31 woman but we women need to understand something. The Bible says in Proverbs 31:11-12 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. At one point, this passage stung me and I realised I needed to do better than what I was doing at the time. How can we say we want to be a Proverbs 31 woman but cannot be responsible for ourselves unless he takes responsibility for himself? The what about him question is a cop out and shows that we do not understand that God establishes all authority including husbands (seeing as I am engaged I am already practising, yes I miss the mark at times but I dont shift MY responsibility to change on to Matt). Our blessing and the plan God has for our lives is not dependent on whether or not we are treated perfectly all the time by our husbands but actually by how we react. Which means the what about him question is hindering us from seeing that we are one half of the problems at hand. This obstructs God from healing our relationships. It just takes one person to want to change and many women DEMAND that the man be first to change because he is supposed to lead but that isnt right. If both have the willingness to change, if not both then just one, God can start with one...everything will be fine but pointing fingers never heals anything or anybody all it does is stirs up bitterness, rebellion and strife til the relationship eventually breaks down. Our power is not in taking over, its in submission. Today I pray for every hurting woman and every emasculated man that you will open up to the Holy Spirit and let Him visit your heart and restore your home. God is still in the business of restoring families, marriages and relationships. God can do it but we must FIRST humble ourselves and take responsibility for our part in the mess only THEN can God turn our mess into a message like only He can! Be blessed!
