Liszt also did some impressive piano arrangements of orchestral works. He did all of Beethovens symphonies as well. This also gave me an idea to do a string quartet (or quartet + piano) arrangement of Horowitzs arrangement of Liszts arrangement of Saint-Saëns Danse macabre. I just need to make it even more creepy and disturbing (and of course, add jazz and rock influences). I was also thinking wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn), but I think this is better with strings.
