Little Known Facts. 1. There are not single owners (for the most part) of one single continuous historical row. 2. Because of this, ISHPC can fix up all its units on Chambers but the two end rows are owned by a foreign national who has no intentions of fixing them up until our struggling non profit has brought up the real estate values. 3. These units that owners have no intentions of fixing up also share a continuous antique clay tile roof, if they do not fix theirs, it can cause leaking in ours, not too mention, if they decide to shingle theirs vs repairing the antique roof, it makes the whole row look stupid and not in keeping with the uniform façade historical character. 4. Many of the units that are donated to ISHPC have back taxes and extant water bills that add up to the cost of what it would take to fix them? We need cooperation from the city and county on the aforementioned issues. 5. When ISHPC calls because people are breaking into historical units outside our core area law enforcement proclaims they have more priority* calls to assist? When we do acquire those abandoned properties at a later date, they have been gutted or burned out making it even more difficult to rehab. 6. ISHPC does not own all the company homes, most of what we own is in the core area*, that is...cross section of Delmar Ave and Chambers (where the Mural is).
