Little Rock, AR (June 23, 2014) – Energy Efficiency Arkansas (EEA) officials have declared June 23-June 27 “Tighten Up” week. With the onset of summer, homeowners and businesses have the task of maintaining comfort at a price they can afford. This summer, “Tighten Up” week is designed to ensure Arkansans are aware of how they can beat the heat and cut costs. “As temperatures across the state continue to rise, it’s important to keep in mind ways to be more energy efficient to decrease overall utility costs while maintaining comfort,” says JD Lowery, director of the Arkansas Energy Office. “During ‘Tighten Up’ week, we want to educate and engage Arkansans, making it as easy as possible for residents to access the information they need to stay cool this summer. EEA – a partnership among the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Energy Office and Arkansas’s investor-owned electric and gas utilities and volunteering electric cooperatives – provides a list of financial incentives offered by utilities that allow Arkansas to take advantage of cost-effective recommendations to help “Tighten Up” each room of homes and businesses in order to lower energy usage. “Increased comfort should be the only thing on the mind of home and business owners, not the expenses associated with the heat outside,” added Lowery. “To help offset costs, we have complied hundreds of recommendations and tips, ranging from no-cost reminders to long-term investments, on our website.” Visit EnergyEfficiencyArkansas.org to learn more about your energy consumption.
