Little bit of an adventure and history lesson yesterday. Traveled to Camden (SC) museum and met the author of the book CARBINE- The Story of David Marshall Williams. Those of us who can remember seeing the 1952 movie of Jimmy Stewart portraying the life story of Carbine Williams (the man who invented/developed the M-1 carbine while in prison) would appreciate the significance of meeting someone who actually knew the man/legend. Ross Beard, who is the author, was and still is a consummate collector whose artifacts are truly amazing. Only part of his diverse collections are currently on display. The museum is preparing to build an addition to the existing museum in order to properly display even more of Beards collection. These are only a few of the pictures but would have to say that Mr. Beards anecdotes about some of the historical artifacts and various people was both fascinating and mesmerizing.
