Little bit of crass commercialism here: The Stockyards Museum in the historic Livestock Exchange Building in the Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District is the only place that you can find large format printed reproductions of the original antique maps in my Electric Books Collection. All the other sources are on-line and you cant see them at first hand. In addition, they are the only local Fort Worth source for my 1000+ Antique Maps of Texas DVD compilation. The Stockyards Museum has two titles that are exclusive to them and that every person interested in Fort Worth history should own. These are from their collection and are reprinted for their use only. The first is the superb 1918 map of Camp Bowie by C.H. Rogers. This is the only really good map ever done of fabled Camp Bowie during its short time during World War I. Beautifully hand drawn, highly detailed but closer to a small work of art than a drafted map, you will find endless surprises and historical detail on this map. Available in 18x24 sheet size. The Museum also offers a stunning 1949 aerial of the entire Stock Yards in its post World War II prime. Done by Skeet Richardson and printed with his permission, the Museum is the only source for this iconic aerial photograph. In sheet sizes 18x24 and 24x36. The Museum also has a number of other Fort Worth and Texas maps including the only detailed map ever drawn of Fort Worths Hells Half Acre. They also have the popular Lonesome Dove Trails map and the Great Texas Cattle Trails maps. in two sizes. The holiday season is not far off. Going to the Stockyards Museum is a great trip in itself and in their store you will find lots of original and unique gift items. This weekend would be a good time to go... stockyardsmuseum.org/
