Wayne Bassnett, 30, was shot in the head in Pepper Street, Hale Village, just after midnight on December 22, 2010. No-one has ever been convicted of his murder after a lengthy trial returned a not guilty verdict on Halewood man Michael Eves in February last year. The case against another man arrested over the murder was discontinued shortly afterwards. Wayne’s sister Kellie Bassnett says gun crime has torn her family apart and shared a a heartfelt piece of writing called ‘A Sister’s Story’ with the ECHO “in loving memory of my baby brother”.
