A developer off Highway Y is requesting to use a 6-inch water line owned by the county water district rather than city water to save $1,000 per lot in construction costs. Tyce Smith: I highly suspect in a large fire -- and weve run into that with two other developments -- the ability of the water system to handle that will be paramount. Knowing what I know about that county water system out there, if we have a large fire out there, will the be able to handle the water pressure and water volume we would need to handle a large fire? Developer said he was told by the water district there should not be a problem: Can we do a flow test? Lauritson: Im not interested. Aldermen voted unanimously against the project.
