Live by a moral code. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Expect the same for yourself. Know what is and is not OK with you, and let people know when something is not OK with you. These are called boundaries. Respect the lines other people draw around themselves. Respect yourself by expressing when someone has crossed over the lines of what is acceptable and fair to you. This takes courage and sometimes patience. Sometimes people will test those lines, and you have to be firm and consistent in telling them what is not OK with you.
