Live-in Carers As a live-in care worker you will reside in the customer’s home and it is important that you recognise the importance of respecting the customer’s right to make choices and maintaining privacy. If you believe you have what it takes to assist an elderly individual in maintaining their lifestyle in a safe and secure manner, we would like to hear from you. Essential Ability to reside in customer home for extended periods Genuine care for others Experience in care provision Experience in running a home Ability to act quickly in an emergency Clear understanding of good quality Excellent communication skills - verbal and written As a live-in care worker you will not be on duty 24 hours a day and will be afforded time off when your services are not required. This is normally in the afternoon but may vary according to the customer’s needs. Carers are able to choose their own work patterns. Some are happy to work for eight weeks, others a few weeks on and then a week off. We are also looking for experienced people who are able to cover the main carers planned holidays. You will not be on call throughout the night and will be expected to be able to retire once the customer is settled for the night so they are able to commence their duties the following morning. The successful candidates will be briefed before undertaking any assignment with the specific tasks involved but in every case it is incumbent upon the care worker to carry out the work in a safe and professional way and to adhere to the specific instructions as well as the policies and procedures of the company. The role may involve some or all of the following. (This is not intended as a full list) Washing, bathing, showering, oral care, grooming Toileting, assisting with the use of the commode, continence management Using manual handling equipment as specified Assisting with prescribed medication Liaising with other care professionals and family members General household duties Preparation of meals
