Live music in the UK has reached an all time low. Cynical Renegade - TopicsExpress

Live music in the UK has reached an all time low. Cynical Renegade have done two gigs in two days, one with an audience made up of other bands and their families, the other made up of no more than ten people (and that gig was FREE!). It seems to me that people are willing to pay vast amounts of money to go to some dingy club and listen to pre-recorded electronically enhanced shit music, or listen to some DJ who has spent hours sampling (i.e. stealing) other peoples sounds, rather than see a live band, made up of talented musicians, writing their own material. Or, they want to see some silly tribute band or covers band - people with performance talent, but apparently no ability or motivation to write their own music. Tribute and covers bands pull in crowds and money, while hard-working bands writing original material, receive slap-in-the-face after slap-in-the-face. Some people say its not my type of music. So what? Most gigs are no more than a fiver and some are FREE. All my life I have gone to local, small gigs, to see bands Ive never heard of, sometimes playing music that is not my type and, more often than not, Ive been pleasantly surprised. In fact, my eclectic music taste is largely as a result of going to see everything available and finding stuff I like that I might never have discovered, had I not gone out to some dingy venue to see bands Id never heard of. TIME FOR A CHANGE FOLKS. Get out and see some live bands. Dont walk off to the bar, just because you dont know the songs. Give bands a chance. You never know, you might come away wanting to hear more. Heres a taste of what you all missed... https://soundcloud/cynical-renegade/07-timothy-single https://soundcloud/cynical-renegade/06-feisty-lady-single
